  • Property has never been drilled
  • Mapping, sampling and trenching underway
Location

The Maki Project is located in the Department of Cusco in south-central Peru and lies on the eastern edge of the Abancay Batholith in the Central Andes, 70 kilometres west of the city of Cusco. Infrastructure is advanced with a maintained gravel road leading to the project area; electricity and telephone service are available in a nearby village.
Overview

The property area hosts a Cu/Au porphyry system with a peripheral gold-silver vein system (Maki Vein). The Maki Vein strikes approximately north-south and can be followed on strike for nearly two kilometers. The vein lies 500 meters east from the porphyry which is itself highly anomalous in copper and gold and hosts quartz veins assaying up to 2 g/t gold. The porphyry is in itself an attractive target but the Maki Vein is the current top priority.

The Maki Vein is best exposed in three main areas referred to as the north, central and south zones. Surface slide debris and minor post-mineral faulting have locally masked the vein between these main zones. Previous surface sampling across vein outcrops have yielded significant gold and silver values. A three meter trench sample on the south end of the vein reported 17.2 g/t gold. Within its central portion outcrops assayed 8.1 and 5.6 g/t gold and vein splays to the north ran up to 19.8 g/t gold with significant silver values. Locally the vein shows numerous sub parallel structures with quartz vein stockworks and brecciation. Several sub-sets of veining are noted proximal to the main vein trend that represent additional targets.

The Company has conducted a program of detailed mapping and sampling on the project. This work included trenching over portions of the vein system with the objective of prioritizing drill targets. A permit application for a possible drilling program is being prepared.

The project area consists of three mining concessions totaling 600 hectares.
Work Performed

Previous work on the property has consisted only of limited sampling and the vein system has never been drilled. Surface sampling across vein outcrops have yielded significant gold and silver values. A three metre trench sample on the south end of the vein reported 17.2 g/t gold. Within its central portion outcrops assayed 8.1 and 5.6 g/t gold and vein splays to the north ran up to 19.8 g/t gold with significant silver values. The Company has conducted a surface trenching and geological mapping program. In early 2007, six trenches were excavated along a 1200 metre southern portion of the Maki Vein. The trenches varied in length from six to 18 metres and were sampled on one metre intervals. The program was successful in establishing consistent mineralization with gold values up to 12.52 g/t and a high silver value of 110 g/t. Four additional channel samples were obtained from trenches on widely scattered altered outcrops exposed through cover within the northern 800 metres of the vein system. The highest gold value in this area was obtained from the northern most trench with reported 2.670 g/t over three metres.

A more recent program in this area consisted of 40, two metre wide channels across altered outcrops exposed through cover. Of these samples, 25 samples exceeded 100 ppb gold with the five highest grading 7.95, 5.96, 4.19, 3.52 and 1.16 g/t gold. Within these samples an eight metre section averaged 4.38 g/t gold. Further sampling of altered wall rock was recently completed here over a 50 by 200 meter area. Assay results for these samples are pending.
Planned Exploration

The Company is presently awaiting further sample results for recent sampling in the North Zone. Further work on the property, including possible drilling is in the planning stage and is somewhat contingent on pending sample results.
